Juice's Thoughts: 2015 is going to be a great year for movies

 By: Taylor Gase
2015! Why am I excited about 2015? Well I’m a movie fan and there are some great movies coming out! What makes me call these movies great before even seeing them? Because people have been waiting for movies like theses for a very long time and even if they suck people would say “It was great to see another one of these films, too bad it sucked.”
There are a lot of movies coming out that will continue many “Movie Franchises.” To me a Movie Franchises is a series of films taking place in the same universe. Now I’m very excited about all theses franchises coming back such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Terminator. The reason is because…have you seen the Marvel and DC movie list for the past 5 years. Now I love superhero movies, but like 20 films within 5 years, it feels like they’re taking over. It’ll be nice to have a list of movies I want to see that are not just superhero types.
I’m going to talk about Jurassic World right now, and I’ll talk about the others later. Jurassic Park came out in 1993, it was based off the book and it was directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie was a hit. I feel like everyone goes through a dinosaurs love phase (I work at a day care and all the kids from all ages love dinosaurs.) So seeing dinosaurs going on a rampage with great effects that still hold up to today made people wanting more! When The Lost World: Jurassic Park movie came out the franchises was born. The movie was once again directed by Steven Spielberg but that didn’t make it as successful as the first. Fans didn’t like this one as much as the first; some say it’s the worst. The ones that don’t call the 2nd one the worst, they give that title to Jurassic Park 3. Now I’ll do a review on all three prior to the new film’s release.
Now here’s my question. If the fans were disappointed by the last two films, why would they be asking for another for all these years! That’s the power of a franchise; people want to see more even if they won’t like it. And what I like to remind people is that the film makers don’t want to make a bad movie that fans will hate. People think they only make sequels to make money. Besides some independent films, EVERY MOVIE IS MADE TO MAKE MONEY!
The trailer for Jurassic World is out and I loved it! They showed the park is now open and from the looks and sound of it, it’s been opening for a long time. I would love this movie to show a family that goes to the park, have a good time, and come back home safe. But that won’t be much of a movie. Unless that family was the Griswolds and Clark gets in all theses funny shenanigans. Now that I think about it I would love to see that made into a film! Have the Griswolds in the same universe as Jurassic Park (watch out Avengers, there’s another shard universes movie about to be made!)
In the trailer the science have already played god by coping his act of making dinosaurs, but they want to one up god by mixing dinosaurs DNA and make a new one. My favorite actor Chirs Pratt says the smartest thing “That’s not a good idea.” So there’s the plot of this film and it’s a lot better than some of the rumors I’ve heard over the many, many years of waiting for this film. I like it, it’s different, and the closing shot made it look like Chirs Pratt is using some of the deadly dinosaurs out to hunt this Abomination. I’m very excited, I’ve always been a JP fan so this movie makes my 2015 must see list!

Beats, Rhymes & Life: ATCQ documentary Trailer

The new trailer from Michael Rapaport's documentary on one of the greatest (if not thee greatest) rap groups ever, A Tribe Called Quest. There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the film, but despite all their arguments all of the members of the Tribe have said it's a great film and everyone should watch it. I'd like to say everyone here at BRL fully supports the film, even though Rapaport and company totally stole the name from us (we'll be waiting on that check, bro).

Juice's Thought: Green Lantern

“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight!” Fans have been waiting to hear this on the big screen for years. Now me personally: I don’t really care too much about the Green Lantern. I was first introduced to this hero in the animated TV show called “Justice League” that ran from 2001-2004. The Green Lantern in the show was not “Hal Jordan” (The hero who started the comic book.) There are many Green Lanterns; however, I believe that only two of them are human, and the others are aliens.

This trailer shows how Hal Jordan becomes Green Lantern. All I know about Hal Jordan is that he gets the ring from a dying alien who was a Green Lantern. Now this transition of power is a good sign because the movie is following the comic book very well. Fans love it when movies follow the story out of the comics. The reason I did not care for this hero is because it took me a while to understand his power. And when I learned what it was, it was not very impressive. The ring can make anything that he can think of. It also gives him the power to fly, travel through space, and change his clothes. Still, the Green Lantern is a very powerful hero.
Every Green Lantern’s job is to protect their sector. Hal Jordan’s sector is Earth. The source of the power is the ring. The ring needs to be charged by a lantern that each of them own. The lanterns come from a planet, and on that planet are the Guardians. The Guardians are the leaders of the “Green Lantern Corps” They give people the job of the Green Lantern’s sectors and have the power to give and take away the power of the heroes.

I don’t really know any of the villains of the Green Lantern. All I know that Yellow is the “Kryptonite” of the Green Lanterns. So yellow can hurt them. The Green Lantern’s foes tend to wear yellow as it helps neutralize the Green Lantern’s power.
I like Ryan Reynolds play Hal Jordan because I know that Hal is a funny guy and Ryan Reynolds is always hilarious. This movie does show a lot of space, and I would love to see a fight scene take place in space. Now I don’t like “3D”,but this movie should be in “3D.” I say this because the only thing that should be 3D in this movie is the green light from the ring, and the enemy’s attacks. Anything else would be unnecessary.

This movie comes out June 17th, , and I can’t wait. It looks like a good time, and although I have never been a big Green Lantern fan, I hope there will be a midnight showing.

Juice's Thoughts: Super Hero Movies, and updates about The Dark Knight Rises

Spider-Man
Batman
X-men
Thor
Captain America
Green Lantern
The Avengers
Superman

I am going to talk about all of them, just not all at once. I'm going to talk about the one I want to see the most and that is "The Dark Knight Rises" The movie comes out in 2012.

Tom Hardy is going to be playing one of the bad guys in this film and he is playing "Bane." Now when you think of "Bane" DON'T THINK OF THE 1997s Batman and Robin Movie! The Bane in that movie was a mistake! If you think he is just a strong guy that just says his name over and over then you don't know Bane at all!

Bane is strong, but he is also very smart. The story of Bane was that he was a criminal and was in a prison. (I don't recall the whole story of his background) and when ever Bane was being trouble he was placed in a dark tower for punishment. He hated the tower because he was scared of the bats that lived there. Over time Bane became a test subject. He was given a chemical to make him strong, most of the test subjects have died from the chemical. But Bane was not one of them, and that is how he got his strafe. Bane went to Gotham,he learned that the man scaring the criminals of the city was a man dressed as a bat. Bane did not like this so the story of Bane was that he wanted to defeat Batman.

(Spoiler alert- Bane did defeat Batman. Bane broke Batman's back and that made him think he killed Batman. Batman was not dead but he needed time to heal. so during that time he got someone to put on the batman suit and become batman until he was ready to get back on his feet.)

Now i want to talk about Anne Hathaway playing Selina Kyle. If you don't know who Selina Kyle is, she is Catwoman. Now there is always a love story with Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne. and a love story of Batman and Catwom. It happened in the 60s batman movie, the 1993 batman movie. the 90s cartoon batman show. and it happen in the books. If you remember in the last movie, Batman's want-to-be girl friend "Rachel" died. I know the director Christopher Nolan is great on giving the people surprises and unpredictable movies. But there is no way of hiding it, the love story of this movie look obvious.

Speaking of Christopher Nolan; I remember reading somewhere that he wants this to finish the Batman movies. Don't worry there will always be a batman movie. Batman has too many fans and makes too much money to never to be used again. But there would be a different director, actors and a new story line. But if this is Nolan's last Batman movie: my first thought was maybe he makes it that Bane does kill batman? But that does not fit he title of "The Dark Knight Rises." unless after Batman dies, another man takes his place. But like i said Nolan is good at making things unpredictable. My only prediction for now (with out seeing any trailers) is that Bane kills Catwan. I think this because Batman's girl friends always die in the books.
some people complained about Anne Hathaway playing Selina Kyle. They don't see her as Catwoman. but a lot of people complained about Heath Ledger playing Joker.

Juice's Thoughts: The Hangover Part II

From the looks of this photo it looks like this movie is just re-using the same jokes from the first movie. In the photo you only see three of the guys, did they lose the 4th guy again? Another thing in the photo is a monkey. That is a big step down from the tiger that they had in the first one. Looking at two of the men you can see one cut their hair, and the other got a tattoo, so i guess that better then losing a tooth.

I really wonder how the story is going to go. Are they going to get drugged up? Do some crazy things and not remember any thing the next day like they did in the first movie? You would think after the first time they would be more careful. If the movie makers can show us that happen again that is believable then this movie might have a good story to it. Or the story is going to just show the three guys getting into more trouble as they try to remember what happen the night before. I'm guessing the words "I can't believe this happened again" will come up and like i said before they will most likely re-use the same jokes but change them up a bit so you don't think your just watching the first one again.

But I hope i'm wrong and there is a good/okay story to it. The makers are keeping the movie in the dark for now, which is why you don't see any trailers. This could be a good thing because they don't want to spoil the story; I know Bill Clinton is going to be in it so that might be funny.
The movie comes out in five months and we will see if it's a new story, or just re-using the same jokes.

New Author on the Blog

Hey everyone. I'm Juice, the brother of Goose. I'm here to talk about movies, telling you about upcoming movies and my thoughts on them.

The next Batman movie is coming out in 2012 and the title is going to be "The Dark Knight Rises" The Riddler and Mr. Freeze are not possible villains in this movie. For everyone that does not like 3D, don't worry this movie will not be in 3D.
